3 Replace the old ONT with a new unit.
4 Connect the Ethernet cable to the RJ-45 port (DLP 101).
5 If required, have approved service personnel who are trained to work with optic
fiber clean the fiber optic connection. See DLP 134 for more information about
fiber optic handling, inspection, and cleaning.
6 Connect the fiber optic cable to the SC/APC connector on the ONT (DLP 133).
7 Connect the power cable with an AC/DC adapter to the ONT unit power connector;
as shown in Figure NTP 128-2.
8 If used, configure the SLID (DLP 129).
9 Verify the ONT LEDs and voltage status (DLP 127).
10 Activate and test the services (DLP 128).
11 If necessary, reset the ONT (DLP 126).
12 STOP. This procedure is complete.
Danger — Fiber optic cables transmit invisible laser light. To avoid eye
damage or blindness, never look directly into fibers, connectors, or
adapters.
Warning — Be careful to maintain a bend radius of no less than 1.18
inches (3.0 cm) when connecting the fiber optic cable. A bend radius in
the cable that is too small can damage the optic fiber.
Note — A new SLID or the old SLID may be used with the replacement
ONT. If a new SLID is used, the new SLID must also be programmed at
the P-OLT using TL1 or a network manager. If the old SLID is used, no
changes need to be made at the P-OLT; see the Operations and
Maintenance documentation for the I-010G-Q or I-010G-S for more
details.
