Safety information
Read the following safety information before installing the unit. Failure to observe
these warnings may result in serious injury, death, or damage to the equipment.
Danger 1 — Always contact the local utility company before
connecting the enclosure to the utilities.
Danger 2 — Observe all local and national laws and regulations that
may be applicable to this installation.
Warning 1 — The earth bonding terminal must be connected to an
approved earth connection before the ac power is applied.
Warning 2 — This equipment is ESD sensitive. Proper ESD protections
should be used when entering the TELCO Access portion of the I-211M-H
indoor ONT.
Warning 3 — Applications of the Optical Network Terminal (ONT)
require an earth ground for functional characteristics. Earth ground
may be accomplished by various means:
• A separate ground rod may be driven into the ground and directly
wired to the unit.
• An existing, grounded structure (pipe, conduit, or similar object)
may be bonded to the ONT.
• The ONT may be connected to the ground connection for the
electrical wiring for the building.
Warning 4 — The intrabuilding port(s) of the equipment or
subassembly is suitable for connection to intrabuilding or unexposed
wiring or cabling only. The intrabuilding port(s) of the equipment or
subassembly must not be metallically connected to interfaces that
connect to the OSP or its wiring. These interfaces are designed for use
as intrabuilding interfaces only (Type 2 or Type 4 ports as described in
GR-1089-CORE, Issue 4) and required isolation from the exposed OSP
cabling. The addition of Primary Protectors is not sufficient protection
in order to connect these interfaces metallically to OSP wiring.
Warning 5 — Observe the following:
• Power supply cords must not be attached to the building surface, nor
run through walls, ceilings, floors, and similar openings in the
building structure.
• Do not install power supply cords near objects that could damage it.
Always route power supply cords away from any such object.
• Locate the I-211M-H indoor ONT as near as possible to a properly
grounded electrical outlet when installing.
