Ensure that these tasks are complete before the upgrade visit:
1 Verify the required hardware for a control-carrier replacement [75 small upgrade] or
Verify the required hardware for a control cabinet replacement [75 small upgrade]
2 Provide the required tools [75 small upgrade]
Perform these tasks during the upgrade visit:
3 Inspect the new control carrier and install CURL [75 small upgrade] or Unpack the control
cabinet and inspect for damage [75 small upgrade]
4 Verify software load [75 small upgrade]
5 Verify system status [75 small upgrade] Record any customer-placed busy-outs.
6 Save translations [75 small upgrade]
7 Verify external alarm connections; modify cabling if necessary [75 small upgrade]
8 Label cables [75 small upgrade]
For systems so equipped:
9 Shut down DEFINITY AUDIX system [75 small upgrade]
10 Power down [75 small upgrade]
11 Disconnect power and grounding [75 small upgrade]
12 Verify power failure [75 small upgrade] if the system uses power failure stations
13 Open/remove doors and panels [75 small upgrade]
14 Disconnect TDM cables [75 small upgrade]
15 Remove circuit packs (A carrier only) [75 small upgrade] or Remove circuit packs (A and B
carriers) [75 small upgrade]
16 Remove tape drive [75 small upgrade]
17 Remove control carrier A [75 small upgrade]
18 Prepare and install new control carrier [75 small upgrade]
19 Install new control cabinet [75 small upgrade] or Install new control cabinet with earthquake
protection [75 small upgrade]
20 Install circuit packs [75 small upgrade]
21 Move 25-pair cables from System 75 to R8si [75 small upgrade]
22 Install TDM/LAN bus terminators and connect cables [75 small upgrade] (The multi-carrier
cabinet requires the new ZAHF4 TDM bus terminators. Do not skip this!)
23 Verify TDM cables and connectors [75 small upgrade]. If new TDM terminators and cables are
required but have not yet been installed, install them now.
24 Connect power and grounding [75 small upgrade]
25 Close upgraded PPN stack without earthquake protection [75 small upgrade] or Close upgraded
PPN stack with earthquake protection [75 small upgrade]
26 Install cable clamps [75 small upgrade]
27 Power up and set date, time and daylight savings rule [75 small upgrade]
