The Wireless Application Protocol
was developed to provide Internet access
to users of mobile telephones and other
compact mobile communications devices.
WAP services use the Wireless Markup
Language (WML) as the language for dis-
playing content. This is similar to the
Hypertext Markup Language (HTML)
used in the Internet and World Wide Web
(WWW).
