CYLINDER HEAD ASSEMBLY
If unable to measure valve guide inside diameter,
measure
valve stem deflection as follows:
Install valve
into valve guide.
Position the valve head at approximately 10
mm
away from valve seat.
Move
valve head
in
"X"
and
"Y" directions and
measure deflection with a
dial indicator.

Valve stem deflection:
• Service limit: 0.006
in
. (0.16 mm)
If measurement exceeds service limit, replace
valve.
If
measurement still exceeds service limit with
new
valve, replace valve guide.
Inspect valve stem end face for pitting and wear. If
necessary, valve stem
end
may
be
resurfaced.
Use caution when resurfacing, do not grind away
stem end chamfer. When chamfer has been worn
away,
replace valve.

Measure valve stem runout. If measurement
exceeds service
limit, replace valve.

limit, replace valve.
