Removal

To
prevent
accidental starting
while
ser-
vicing,
twist
and remove all spark
plug
leads.
During service, the outboard
may
drop
unexpectedly. Avoid personal inJury;
always
support
the
outboard's
weight
with
a
suitable
hoist
or
the
tilt
support
bracket
during
service.
Remove cotter pin and nut, and
all
propeller hard-
ware from the gearcase.
Inspect the condition of the propeller hub.

Loosen the clutch
rod
lock
nut.
Unscrew the turn-
buckle to separate the clutch
rod
from the shift
rod.

Remove four gearcase retaining screws.

Remove gearcase from the exhaust housing and

in
a suitable holding fixture.
