Measure the connecting
rod
big end inside diame-
ter as
follows:
• Clean
the surface of the
rod
and cap.
• Install the cap
on
the rod.
• Apply engine oil to screws and tighten to 102
in.
Ibs (12 N·m).

Measure the connecting
rod
inside diameter:
• Standard: 1.1427 to 1.1431
in.
(29.025 to
29.034 mm).

Measure connecting rod big end oil clearance as
follows:
• Clean
the surfaces of
rod
, cap, and crankpin.
• Place a piece of Plastigage
on
crank pin parallel
to the crankshaft. Avoid placing Plastigage over
the
oil hole.

• Install connecting
rod
and cap to crankpin.
• Apply engine oil to screws and tighten to 102
in.
Ibs. (12 N·m).
IMPORTANT: Do not rotate connecting rod with
Plastigage
in
place.
