MakesuretheaccesspointisconnectedtotheLANandassociatesomewirelessclientswiththenetwork.Once
youhavetestedthebasicsofyourwirelessnetwork,youcanenablemoresecurityandfine‐tunetheAPby
modifyingadvancedconfigurationfeatures.
1. ConnecttheaccesspointtotheLAN.
•If
youconfiguredtheaccesspointandadministratorPCbyconnectingbothintoanetworkhub,then
youraccesspointisalreadyconnectedtotheLAN.Thenextstepistotestsomewirelessclients.
•Ifyouconfiguredtheaccesspointbyusinga directcableconnectionfromyourcomputertothe
access
point,dothefollowingprocedures:
a. Disconnectthecablefromthecomputerandtheaccesspoint.
b. ConnectanEthernetcablefromtheaccesspointtotheLAN.
c. ConnectyourcomputertotheLANbyusinganEthernetcableorawirelesscard.
2. TestLANconnectivitywithwirelessclients.
TesttheUAPbytrying
todetectitandassociatewithitfromsomewirelessclientdevices.Forinformation
aboutrequirementsforthesecl ients,see“WirelessClientRequirements”onpage17.
3. Secureandconfiguretheaccesspointbyusingadvancedfeatures.
OncethewirelessnetworkisupandyoucanconnecttotheAPwith
somewirelessclients,youcanaddin
layersofsecurity,createmultiplevirtualaccesspoints(VAPs),andconfigureperformancesettings.
Bydefault,nosecurityisinplaceontheaccesspoint,soanywirelessclientcanassociatewithitandaccess
yourLAN.Animportantnextstepistoconfiguresecurity,
asdescribedin“V irtualAccessPointSettings”on
page70.
Note:TheWLANAPisnotdesignedformultiple,simultaneousconfigurationchanges.Ifmorethan
oneadministratorisloggedontotheAdministrationWebpagesandmakingchangestothe
configuration,thereisnoguaranteethatallconfigurationchangesspecifiedbymultipleuserswill
beapplied.
