5.4.1 VNR Unit Removal
1.
Power-down the system and disconnect the chassis power cord from the connecting ac electrical outlet.
WAIT AT LEAST FIVE MINUTES before proceeding.
2.
Unplug the power cord from connector J1, located on the rear of the VNR (Figure 5-4).
3.
Remove the external loopback plug from the VNR chassis.
4.
Loosen the fastener one quarter turn on the right side of the VNR and swing the unit away from the
back panel.
5.
Remove the internal chassis harness clamp screw from the VNR (Figure 5-5)
6.
Disconnect P5 and P6 of the internal chassis harness from the VNR PCBs J11 and J12, respectively
(Figure 5-5).
7.
Disconnect the two GND wires located on the side of the VNR.
8.
While holding the 'VNR, remove the clip from the bottom of the VNR hinge pin; remove the hinge pin;
and then remove the VNR from the chassis.
5.4.2 VNR Unit Replacement
1.
Fasten the VNR unit to the chassis using the hinge pin and clip.
2.
Connect P5 and P6 of the internal chassis harness to J11 and J12 of the VNR.
3.
Connect the two GND wires located on the side of the VNR.
4.
Replace the internal chassis harness clamp and screw on the VNR.
5.
Swing the VNR in toward the back panel.
6.
Loosen the four hex screws along the VNR rear and one screw at the VNR side (accessible through an
opening in the chassis) so that the VNR can be easily moved along the elongated hole slots on the VNR
frame (Figure
5-5).
7.
Position the VNR parallel to the chassis from the front to back, at the rear, and to the chassis top, with
an approximate 3.175 mm (1/8-inch) gap between the top of the VNR and the chassis top.
8.
Tighten the four hex screws along the rear of the unit, and fasten the VNR in place, and tighten the
screw located on the side of the VNR.
9.
Connect the VNR loopback plug to P1 of the VNR (Figure 5-4).
10.
Plug the appropriate end of the power cord to the rear of the VNR and the other end to a proper
electrical outlet.
