4.1.3 FRU Replacement Guidelines
Whenever a troubleshooting procedure or a test program error report specifies replacing a FRU, follow these
guidelines:
Replace the first FRU specified, as error reports list FRUs in order of the most probable failure.
To replace a FRU, see Section 5. To replace FRUs in peripheral devices, see the appropriate technical
documentation.
If using a test program, reload it and rerun the previously failing test.
If the test rerun produces another error report, perform one of the following procedures:
a.
Same error report as the last time - reinstall the last FRU removed and replace the next most
probable failing FRU given in the error report.
b.
Different error report but the same FRU - replace the next most probable FRU if one is given
in
the error report, otherwise, replace the same FRU with a known good FRU.
c.
Different error report and different
-
FRU - replace most probable failing FRU given by the error
report.
4.1.4 ECLIPSE MV17800 Basic Troubleshooting Procedure
This basic troubleshooting procedure provides both fault isolation and verification for new installations (or existing
systems with new additions). While these situations are different, many of the procedures required to perform
both initial checkout and repair are the same and given in the troubleshooting flowchart, Figure 4-1. This
flowchart provides a logical sequence of fault isolation to the FRU level.
