SECTION 6
INSTALLATION/REMOVAL
This section describes the installation and removal procedures for the ECLIPSE MV/7800, Models 8883, 8884
and 8885 computers. Included are the installation specifications and instructions for unpacking, installing, and
testing the main processor. The end of this section also has instructions for COMSWITCH-II installation.
Complete system verification tests are included, as well as removal procedures for the system. Prior to installation,
the customer should:
Negotiate with the carrier for any visible damage to the exterior of the shipping container while in the
possession of the carrier,
Receive the DGC equipment from the carrier,
Transfer the system from the delivery dock to the computer room,
Install and test the necessary facility electrical systems to ensure correct voltages,
Arrange for personnel to unpack and inventory the equipment under service personnel supervision, and
Arrange for service personnel to connect the system cables to the site power outlets.
Each installation procedure is dependent upon the preceding one. Therefore, the procedures must be performed
in the sequence presented. The installation procedures are:

Perform a Line Voltage Checkout
Cabinet Installation
CPU Main Chassis Unpacking and Mounting
Verify system operation
Initializing the Computer
Enable Automatic Program Load
COMSWITCH-II Installation
Modem Installation
6.1 INSTALLATION SPECIFICATIONS
This section includes information for site preparation prior to the installation of the computer. All site
preparations must be met by the customer before the computer is unpacked.
