5.9 CPU CHASSIS BACK PANEL
WARNING
This procedure requires two people as a fully loaded chassis weighs about
50 kgs (110 pounds).
5.9.1 Removal of the CPU Chassis Back Panel
1.
Power-down the system and disconnect the chassis power cord from the ac source.
2.
Remove the VNR from the chassis (5.4).
3.
Loosen the two panel fasteners on the rear connector bulkhead and swing the panel down.
NOTE
Label all cable locations on the back panel so they can be properly
reconnected during the replacement procedure.
4.
Disconnect, from the back panel, all cables that connect to the rear connector bulkhead.
5.
Remove the rear connector bulkhead from the chassis (with cables connected on both sides) by swinging
the bulkhead part way up towards the back panel and by lifting the rear connector bulkhead from its
groove in the bottom of the chassis.
6.
Remove the decorative front panel (5.1).
7.
Remove the front RFI shield (one screw and one nut).
8.
Remove all the plug-in PCBs from the chassis (5.7).
9.
Unfasten the chassis from the cabinet side-rails by removing, from captive nuts, two screws per rail in
the front and one screw per rail in the rear (Figure 5-17).
NOTE
Access to the screws holding the chassis to the rear side-rail may require
the removal of the cabinet side panel.
10.
With one person on each side of the rack, slide the chassis (without rear connector bulkhead) out from
the front of the rack and place this assembly on a secure work surface. The slides will support the
chassis until it is about half-way out of the rack.
11.
Note the location of the margining loopback plug and any jumpers from the back panel and then remove
them (Figure 5-18).
