12. Disconnect the following connectors of the internal chassis harness, referring to Figure 5-17:
Connectors P1 from J15 and P2 and P3 from 336 on the back panel.
Connector 31 and support bracket from the rear of the fan module (two screws).

Unfasten the back panel from the chassis (six screws, three on each side).
14.
Remove the back panel support bracket (two screws).
15.
Remove the back panel through the rear of the chassis.
5.9.2 Replacement of the CPU Chassis Back Panel
1.
Carefully insert the new back panel through the rear of the chassis.
2.
Fasten the back panel bracket to the chassis (six screws, three on each side).
3.
Fasten the back panel bracket to the chassis (two screws).
4.
Reconnect the following connectors to the internal chassis harness:
Connector 31 and support bracket at the rear of the fan module (two screws).
Connector P1 to the back panel pins labeled 315 of slot 6, B side.
Connector P2 and P3 to the backpanel pins labeled J15.
6.
Install the margining loopback plug and any jumpers removed on the new back panel in the same back
panel locations used on the defective back panel.
7.
With one person on each side of the chassis, slide it onto the rack rails and fasten it to the rails (two
screws per rail in front, one screw per rail in rear).
8.
Install the plug-in PCBs in the same slots on the chassis that they occupied previously (5.7).
9.
Install the front RFI shield (one screw and one nut).
CAUTION
The attachment tabs on the front RFI shield must not be bent. The
shield must be installed flush with the chassis.

Replace the decorative front panel
11.
Replace the rear connector bulkhead in its groove on the chassis. Leave the connector bulkhead hang
open until the internal I/O cables are reconnected.
12.
Reconnect all internal I/O device cables and any other cables that were disconnected from the old back
panel.
CAUTION
The rear connector bulkhead must be closed before the VNR is swung in
place to prevent damage to the RFI fingers on the bottom of the VNR.
13.
Swing the rear connector bulkhead up until it is closed. Fasten it in place by
tightening the panel
