9. Lift the defective fan from the casing and disconnect the two wires and fan rotation sensor connector.
Note the position of the wire connectors on the fan so that the new fan can be installed correctly in the
same position.
5.5.2 Replacement of Fan Module and Fans
1.
Reconnect the two ac wires and the fan rotation sensor connector to the fan being installed.
CAUTION
It is essential that the fan sensor connectors be connected to the correct
fan so that the diagnostics can identify which fan fails.
2.
. Position the fan on the fan module. If this is a bottom fan, make sure it is positioned on the stud
properly, and then replace the washer, locking the washer and the nut.
3.
If fan 4 was replaced, reinstall the front panel casing to the fan module casing (four screws).
4.
Carefully turn the fan on its side, holding the new fan to make sure that it stays in the correct position.
5.
Fasten the fan to the casing (one screw for a bottom fan, two screws for a top fan).
6.
Slide the fan module into the 'chassis and push until it locks in place.
7.
Fasten the fan module to the chassis (two nuts and lockwashers)
8.
Install the RFI shield (one screw and one nut).
CAUTION
The attachment tabs on the front RFI shield must not be bent. The
shield must be installed flush with the chassis.
9.
Replace the decorative front panel.
10.
Power-up system.
11.
Verify system operation.
5.6 FRONT PANEL PCB
5.6.1 Removal of the Front Panel PCB
1.
Power-down the system.
2.
Remove the fan module (5.5)
3.
Remove the front panel PCB casing from the fan casing (two screws on the top, two screws on the
bottom (Figure 5-9).
