4.2 Operating in general.
The THOR operating procedure is menu-based which means, that all operating features are displayed as the
operator replies to the questions asked by
YES

→
- key) or
NO
(
↓
- key).
The menu includes 9 sub-menu's for card status display, card programming, system test and programming. All
kind of operating require
a card and a 4 or 6-digit code
to be keyed-in. The menu-functions displayed depends
on the code-priority of the used card (5 levels).
4.2.1 Door control.
The primary function of the THOR Access Control system, is to control the flow of people through a door, gate
etc.
Access is allowed either by use of a valid card or by a combination of use of a valid card and PIN code.
Doors are further monitored, and the THOR Access Control will execute alarms, if the doors are forced opened
without authorization or held open too long time.
4.2.2 Normal Passage Through a Door.
The daily operation is typically a normal entry through a door by acceptance of the card and possibly combined
with a personal code (PIN code).
The display with backlight and the built in sounder gives the user guided information about the operation of the
system.
During non operation mode, the display will indicate the date and time (backlight off).
The below figure is showing 3 different cases in the normal use of the THOR reader. When a card is read the
display will be lit at the same time.
If the card has been read correctly and with cards without PIN code the 1st. display picture will appear.
If the card has been read correctly and with cards with PIN code the 2nd. display picture will appear.
The user will further be notified in a fault situation with a message in the display and a beep from the sounder. In
case of a faulty reading the 3rd. display picture will appear.
