EXAMPLE 1
If a tool+tool-holder assembly with an overall weight of 3.5kg (including the ring nut and elastic
collet) is to be used on an ES789 HSK, the distance between the spindle nose and the centre of
gravity "G" of the tool+tool-holder assembly is "X"=80mm:
1. The graph relating to this particular electrospindle is the one shown in the
“Centre of gravity
curves for ES789 HSK”
paragraph on page 133;
2. As there is no specific curve for "X"=80mm, it is necessary to refer to the curve associated with
"X"=90mm;
3. For a weight of 3.5kg, the curve shows a maximum no-load speed of 14000 rpm.
EXAMPLE 2
If a milling cutter pack that can be assimilated to a cylinder of length L=160mm and with a total
weight of 4.5kg is to be used on an ES779 HSK short-nose:
1. b=h/2=160/2=80mm;
2. The tool can be assimilated to a single elementary part (cylinder), therefore X=b=80 mm;
3. The graph relating to this particular electrospindle is the one in the“Centre of gravity curves for
ES779 HSK short-nose”
paragraph on page 133.
4. In this case, refer to the curve associated with "X"=90mm;
5. For a weight of 4.5 kg, the maximum no-load speed is 12,000 rpm.
