9.2 Replacing the encoder reader
If the encoder reader needs to be replaced, follow the shaft kit disassembly procedure as far as
point
12, then proceed as follows:
Models with an HSD square-wave encoder
Loosen the two optic reader fixing screws
and carefully raise the reader out of its seat.
Carefully remove the reader from the encoder disk, making sure it doesn't get scratched.
Carefully position the new reader, and push it into its seat.
Tighten the 2 fixing screws.
Rotate the shaft and make sure the encoder disk is at the same distance from the two ends of
the optic reader fork.
Follow the shaft kit assembly procedure.
Models with a Lenord-Bauer sinusoidal encoder
Loosen the 2 fixing screws.
Loosen the screw that holds the reader earth cable to the flange.
Take out the faulty reader.
Position the new reader in its seat, keeping it away from the toothed wheel.
Tighten the 2 screws, but leave a little bit of play.
Place the thickness spacer (supplied) between the toothed wheel and the new reader.
Position the thickness spacer BEFORE carrying out the other operations. Otherwise,
the magnetic component of the reader may be drawn to the toothed wheel and may
strike it, damaging the reader.
Push the reader towards the toothed wheel, as far as it will go.
Fully tighten the two optic reader fixing screws.
Remove the thickness spacer.
Visually check that the toothed wheel doesn't touch the reader when the shaft is rotated.
Tighten the screw that holds the reader earth cable to the flange.
Follow the shaft kit assembly procedure.
