Remove the snap ring.
Remove the pinion gear pilot bearing by
using the special tools.
Special tool:
Bearing puller A120E00037
Pull the pinion bearing from the shaft with a
commercially available bearing puller.
Remove the pinion shim(s).
INSPECTION
Inspect the gear case, cover and oil seals for
wear or damage.
If any wear or damage is found, replace the
oil seal with a new one.

Ɣ If there is no abnormal condition, the
bearing removal is not necessary.
Ɣ The removed bearing must be replaced
with a new one.
