Glossary
Access Point
A device used to transmit videos from your in-car DVR to your server. The access
point is connected to a wireless network antenna mounted on the outside of the
building that houses your server.

ome precincts have more than one access point to accommodate multiple vehicles
that park in different areas outside the building. See also Transmission.
Digital Evidence Collection System
An L3 Mobile-Vision product that is used by law enforcement personnel to collect
digital evidence. It includes the following hardware and software components:
Flashback DVRs
Access point(s)
Storage server(s)
DES software
Backup PC(s)
Robotic DVD burner
RAID storage device (optional).
DVR Login Key
A file on a USB drive that contains your user information. You insert this flash drive
in your Flashback USB port at the beginning of each shift. This identifies you as the
owner of that shift’s videos.
Record Trigger
The event that causes an in-car DVR to automatically start recording without any
action on the officer’s part.
SD Card
The temporary storage device that stores Flashback3 and/or FlashbackHD videos
until they can be transmitted to the agency server.
Server
The network computer that hosts the DES application and stores video evidence and
other related data. Some larger agencies have more than one server.
System Implementation Specialist (SIS)
An L3 Mobile-Vision representative who assists with the installation of the
Flashback Digital Evidence Collection system, including hardware (Flashback3 or
FlashbackHD) and software (DES) components.
