2 GOBY SYSTEM CARE AND MAINTENANCE
2.1 GENERAL CARE, CLEANING, AND PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE
IMPORTANT:
Always wear protective gloves when cleaning the equipment to prevent biological contamination.
EMG electrodes, tubing, disposable catheters, and transducer cartridges are intended for SINGLE
PATIENT USE only. Do NOT re-use disposables.
The Goby™ system is non-immersible. The system including the Urocap™ IV and the Goby™ Hub should
be wiped down with a clean cloth dampened with a cleaning solution such as soap and water or as per hospital
cleaning instructions. Refer to the
Caring for the UDS Roam section on page 8 for a reagents list applicable to
cleaning the UDS Roam.
Do not sterilize the Goby system components.
Performing regular maintenance will reduce the need for costly repairs. Check all transducer calibration of the
Goby every 6 months or whenever you suspect the transducers are out calibration.
Pay close attention to the LED lights on each device. If they indicate a broken connection and/or low battery, make sure
that the connection is re-established and fully charge the battery. Refer to the LED Lights section on page 27
.
2.1.1 Caring for the UDS Roam
IMPORTANT: The UDS Roam is not immersible. Wipe the outside of the device with soap and water or with a
hospital-grade disinfectant from the compatibility list below.
DO NOT SPRAY CLEANING REAGENTS DIRECTLY ON
OR IN THE UDS ROAM.
The UDS Roam is compatible with the following cleaning and disinfection reagents:
Hypochlorite wipes (Clorox or equivalent)
QUAT wipes (Sani-Cloth or equivalent)
Hydrogen Peroxide wipes (Diversey Oxivir Tb or equivalent)
Aldehyde wipes (Kohrsolin FF or equivalent)
Isopropanol 70%
Ensure the reagents are used for at least the contact time stated in the reagent instructions. Do not use reagents for more
than twice the stated contact time.
NOTE: LABORIE recommends charging and using the UDS Roam at least once or twice a year to maintain optimal
performance. If it will be placed in storage, make sure it is stored with the battery fully charged.
The UDS Roam can be set up for use with a patient using a waist belt, lanyard, or holster. To prevent cross-contamination,
waist belts and lanyards are made of machine washable materials that should be washed with hot water and dried between
uses. The holster can be cleaned with standard hospital wipes.
To check if the UDS Roam is functioning correctly, refer to the Check the UDS Roam™ section on page 12.
