1 Check the punch carriage for correct operation.
Does the punch carriage move back and forth
smoothly?
Check this item by moving it with your fingers.
Go to step 2. Remove
obstacles.
2 Check the sensor (punch carriage shift HP) for correct
operation.
Perform the sensor (punch carriage shift HP) test.
1. Enter the Diagnostic mode.
2. Select FINISHER TESTS.
3. Select Sensor Test.
4. Select Punch and Staple.
5. Select Punch carriage shift HP.
Open the finisher front door assembly.
Move the punch carriage assembly back and forth.
Does the operator panel display change every time the
sensing area of the above sensor is blocked?
Go to step 4. Go to step 3.
3 Check the sensor (punch carriage shift HP)
connection.
Are the connections of the punch sensor cable
assembly correctly connected?
Replace the
sensor (punch
carriage
shift HP). Go to
“Sensor (punch
carriage shift
HP) removal” on
page 4-51.
Replace the
connection.
4 Open the finisher front door assembly.
Manually push the punch carriage toward the rear of
the finisher.
Check the punch carriage shift motor assembly by
opening and closing the finisher front door. The punch
carriage should move slightly.
Does the punch carriage shift motor assembly rotate,
and does the punch shift carriage move back and
forth?
Go to step 6. Go to step 9.
