Press start on terminal and the unit automatically
introduce the set pressure of the method (40 bar),
before to start the microwave program.
Microwave run
When the pressure is loaded, the unit starts the microwave program.
See the software chapter for details on how to create or load a microwave program from
library.
Pressure release after microwave run
Pressure released is controlled via software.
The process should not be too fast to avoid any sample foaming. A pressure release rate between 3 and
10 bar/min is recommended (usually is set at 8 bar/min).
The pressure vessel can be opened only after complete discharge of pressure.
When the temperature inside the vessel is cooled down under the set value (i.e. 80°C), the electrical
pressure release valve open, releasing the inside pressure of reactor.
The internal temperature must be below 80 °C, before the pressure release valve starts the releasing.
To avoid possible losses of volatile elements, Milestone suggests cooling down the reactor at 50°C before
the pressure release.
Release the internal pressure always by the software-controlled pressure release valve.
Only in exceptional cases (e.g. failure of the automatic pressure release valve) it is possible to
do it by the emergency valve. Contact the service engineer before to open the emergency
drain valve.
In case the pressure release (in emergency situations) is done at high temperatures and with
aggressive media, then the valve will be subject to corrosions and must be immediately
replaced.
Before opening the reactor check the actual pressure on the front manometer
Only after the pressure is completely released (0 bar), the software allows to open the clamps and then
the reactor cover.
