Conditions That Trigger Ribbon End (Thermal Transfer Only)
Ribbon end error is detected by the ribbon sensor in the ribbon supply spindle. Ribbon end error
occurs when the product detects that the ribbon in the ribbon supply spindle has not moved (rolled)
more than 32 mm (1.26") after feeding the media.
Following are the behaviors when detecting the ribbon end according to the remaining print job.
• When the amount of printing remaining is 12 mm (0.47") or more, the product generates a ribbon
error immediately after detection.
• When the amount of printing remaining is less than 12 mm (0.47"), the product generates a
ribbon error after printing is completed.
• When you have selected [Continuous] in the [Print Mode] menu as well as selecting [None]
in the [Sensor Type] menu, or if you have selected [Linerless] in the [Print Mode] menu, then
regardless of the amount of printing remaining, the product generates a ribbon error immediately
after detection.
• When feeding, the product generates a ribbon error immediately after detection.
