Outputting with Simple Standalone Application
The simple standalone application is preloaded as the initial setting of AEP (Application Enabled
Printing) mode.
You can print data saved on a USB memory which is inserted into the USB connecter of the product by
using the simple standalone application.
Create the label formats for simple standalone printing and output the labels according to the following
procedure:
1. Use label software, such as NiceLabel, Bartender, etc., to create a label format.
It is recommended to use SATO printer fonts instead of True Type fonts but it is not a
requirement. Graphic images are also acceptable to use.
All label objects will be saved as fixed data. It is possible to add variable data to the
label format. Contact your SATO sales representative for more information.
2. Use Print-to-File option to create the SBPL data stream and save the label output
you want to use for standalone printing.
The following extensions are recognized by the product: .ssa, .txt, .prn, .sbpl (if
SBPL is enabled), .zpl (if SZPL is enabled). The extensions are case insensitive. It
is recommended for the file name excluding extension to be equal or less than 32
characters in order to fully show on the product screen.
3. Copy the label format file to the root folder of a USB memory.
For compatibility with simple standalone mode on S84-ex/S86-ex, the label format can also be
saved to the "/PR61/DATA" folder if SBPL is enabled, and to the "/PR61/SZPL" folder if SZPL is
enabled.
Use a USB memory that are formatted to FAT32.
