8.1.1 Upgrading the device firmware
8.1.1.1 Backup the configuration
The SINAMICS DCP parameter assignment is not lost while updating the firmware. In spite
of this, before starting the firmware update, back up the SINAMICS DCP configuration:
● Back up the parameter assignment on a memory card (see Chapter "Memory card
functions (Page 158)")
and/or
● Backup the parameter assignment in a STARTER project (see Chapter "Commissioning
using the STARTER commissioning tool (Page 125)")
8.1.1.2 Update the SINAMICS DCP firmware
Note
Only memory cards which have been prepared for these systems by Siemens will be
accepted.
If the memory card is formatted, formatting must be performed with the FAT16 setting.
Downloading the latest firmwar
e release see Preface (Page 3).
Procedure
1. Unzip the *.zip file to an empty memory card.
2. Insert the card in the SINAMICS DCP, which has been switched-off, and switch the
device on again. The firmware is updated. The update has been completed if the RDY-
LED and the DP1-LED flash at 0.5 Hz (the update takes about 12 minutes).
3. Carry out a POWER OFF. Remove the memory card from the SINAMICS DCP.
Removing the memory card before POWER ON
If the memory card is not removed from the SINAMICS DCP before the POWER ON,
the parameterization in the SINAMICS DCP is copied to the memory card during ramp-
up, or a parameterization already on the card copied to the SINAMICS DCP.
For a detailed description of this function, see Chapter "Memory card functions
(Page 158)", Section "Copying parameter data sets from non-volatile memory to the
memory card".
