7.1.1.3 Memory card functions
This chapter describes the basic functions of the memory card in the SINAMICS DCP.
Basics
The CUD (Control Unit for the SINAMICS DCP) manages three memory areas:
A volatile memory, the
RAM, also called work memory
A non-volatile memory, the
flash EPROM. The flash EPROM is known as flash memory
or as
ROM.
Comment: The designation ROM does not completely correspond to the functionality of a
flash EPROM; however, it is used in this way over the complete series of SINAMICS
products.
An optionally available portable memory card
Note
Memory cards can be ordered as an option (S03) or as accessorie
s, see Chapter
"
Ordering information for options and accessories (Page 27)".
SINAMICS DCP does not accept other memory cards.
The work memory receives all project information and application programs while the device
is being operated. To save the actual data of the work memory, you must copy it to non-
volatile memory
before shutting down, see Chapter "Commissioning (Page 119)", "Copy
RAM to ROM" function.
An optional memory card is used:
For saving various parameter data sets
For transferring the parameter data sets to additional SINAMICS DCPs
For series commissioning
The memory card is needed:
For installing firmware updates
For loading the DCC block library to the SINAMICS DCP
For reading-out the diagnostic trace
For communication via Modbus TCP
For communication via EtherNet/IP
For communication via SINAMICS Link
