WARNING
Failure to observe general safety instructions and residual risks
If the general safety instructions and remaining risks are not observed, accidents can occur
involving severe injuries or death.
• Observe the general safety instructions.
• Take into account residual risks when assessing risk.
WARNING
Electric shock due to the residual charge of the capacitors
Because of the capacitors, a hazardous voltage is still present for a period of time after the
power supply has been switched off.
If live components are touched then this can result in severe injury or death.
• Open the unit only after the time specified on the warning label has elapsed.
• Before starting work, check that the device is in an absolutely no voltage condition by
measuring all poles, also to ground.
WARNING
Electric shock or fire when using unsuitable residual current protective devices
In the case of a fault, a SINAMICS DCP can cause DC current to flow in the protective
conductor (PE). In the case of a fault, this DC current can prevent fault current protective
devices from tripping, which results in an electric shock or fire.
• Therefore, it is crucial that you only use universal current sensitive fault current
protective devices (e.g. RCD type B).
The power and control terminals can be live (at a certain voltage) even when the
SINAMICS DCP is switched off.
When handling the device while it is open, remember that live parts can be exposed.
The unit must only be operated with the front covers provided by the factory fitted.
When required, additional covers should be provided in the control cabinet (for example, in
the area around the busbars).
When operating the SINAMICS DCP, all of screws fixing the front cover must be tight.
