6.3.1.1 Description
Description
You can use the STARTER commissioning tool to configure and commission SINAMICS
drives or drive systems as well as the SINAMICS DCP. The drive configuration can be
performed with the aid of the STARTER wizard for drive configuration.
To commission the DCP with firmware V1.3, you require STARTER from V4.5.1 and the
SSP "DCP 1.3".

In this chapter,
"drive", "drive unit" or "drive system" always refers to the SINAMICS DCP.
Note
This chapter describes how to commission with STARTER. STARTER has a comprehensive
online help that explains in detail all of the sequences and setting options in the system. This
is the reason why this chapter is restricted to the individual commissioning
steps.
Prerequisites for installing STARTER
STARTER is installed on a PG/PC. The hardware and software preconditions are described
in the readme file for STARTER.
Note
The SIMOTION SCOUT engineering tool includes the STARTER functionality to commission
drives.
As of version V4.2, SCOUT has also been released for commissioning the SINAMICS DCP.
