Electric shock or fire due to missing or unsuitable overcurrent protective devices
Overcurrent protective devices that trip too late or not all can result in electric shock or fire.
This can result in severe injury or death.
• Only connect the power connections at both sides of the SINAMICS DCP using the
appropriate overcurrent protective devices.
• To guarantee protection for persons and against fire, the overcurrent protective devices
must be dimensioned for the short-circuit currents expected. This means that the
currents that flow can be appropriately handled, interrupted in plenty of time – therefore
guaranteeing safe and reliable shutdown.
Danger when using unsuitable fuses in PV applications
If unsuitable fuses are used in PV systems, fuse bodies can crack. This can cause the fuse
body to rupture.
This can result in death or severe injury.
• As a consequence, only use suitable PV fuses in PV systems.
Main fuses
The following types are suggested for operation at rated current:
● Use in photovoltaic (PV) systems (gPV characteristic):
– 30 kW device:
- Siemens PV fuse cartridge 63 A with designation 3NE1218-4
- Bussmann PV fuse cartridge 63 A with designation PV-63ANH1
– 120 kW device:
- Siemens PV fuse cartridge 250 A with designation 3NE1227-4D
- Bussmann PV fuse cartridge 250 A with designation PV-250ANH2
● Use in non-photovoltaic (PV) systems with a high short-circuit current:
– 30 kW device:
Bussmann fuse cartridge 63 A with designation 170E3583
– 120 kW device:
Siemens SITOR fuse cartridge 250 A with designation 3NB1128-4KK11
