On this tab, select sengs for tesng Hematocrit.
Hematocrit Seng (Calibraon by
Laboratory Hematology Analyzer)
Specify the ancoagulant used to calculate hematocrit result. For
best agreement of i‑STAT Alinity and hematology analyzer
hematocrit results, the i‑STAT Alinity customizaon seng is
selected according to the calibraon of the comparave
hematology analyzer (MH‑K
2
EDTA or MH‑K
3
EDTA). Since most
clinical hematology analyzers are calibrated by the
microhematocrit method using K
3
EDTA ancoagulant, the i‑STAT
Alinity System default customizaon is K
3
EDTA.
Select either:
K2EDTA
K3EDTA
The default is K3EDTA.
Apply CPB Protein Algorithm to
Hema
tocrit
The Apply CPB opon is intended for use when samples are
collected from paents on cardiopulmonary bypass. The CPB
funcon adjusts hematocrit and hemoglobin results for the
diluonal eect of pump uid during cardiopulmonary bypass
surgery. However, the facility may validate its use for other
paent populaons known to have protein levels signicantly
lower than the normal adult populaon.
Note: If an ins
trument customized as “CPB, always
apply” is used for paents who are not on the pump, it
is possible that the hematocrit results will be reported
falsely high. If an instrument customized as “CPB, never
apply” is used for paents who are on the pump or have
decreased levels of protein, the hematocrit results may
be reported falsely low.
An instrument that is customized to prompt for CPB requires the
operator to answer Yes or No. Yes indicates that the CPB
correcon should be applied. No indicates that the CPB
correcon should not be applied. Select one of the following:
CPB, Prompt

has a hematocrit sensor.
