Adjustments
The sengs for result displays of base excess and eGFR (Esmated Glomerular Filtraon Rate) are
determined in this tab.
BE Equaon Base excess of the extracellular uid or standard base excess is the
concentraon of tratable base minus the concentraon of tratable
acid when trang the average intracellular uid (plasma plus intersal
uid) to an arterial plasma pH of 7.40 at PCO
2
of 40 mmHg at 37°C.
Excess concentraon of base in the average ECF remains virtually
constant during acute changes in the PCO
2
and reects only
nonrespiratory component of pH disturbances. Select either opon:
Extra Cellular Fluid
Base Excess of Extracellular Fluid (BEecf)
BEecf = HCO
3
– 24.8 + 16.2 (pH – 7.4)
This is the default.
Blood
Base Ex
cess of Blood (BEb)
BEb = (1 - 0.014*Hb) * [HCO
3
- 24.8 + (1.43 * Hb
+ 7.7) * (pH - 7.4)]
eGFR E
quaon MDRD (default)
CKD-EPI 2009
eGFR Variants Select one of these opons:
Display both eGFR and Black/African American eGFR
Display only eGFR
Display only Black/African American eGFR
Note: Black/
African American eGFR displays as eGFR-a on the
instrument screen.
When nished, choose fr
