7-4 InstaCal Module Verification Calibration
7-4 InstaCal Module Verification
InstaCal module verification identifies any failures in the module due to
circuitry damage or failure of the control circuitry. This test does not
attempt to characterize the InstaCal module, which is performed at the
factory or the service center.
The verification compares a precision load against the InstaCal module
and provides a baseline for other field measurements. A precision load
provides better than 42 dB directivity.
1. Set the Site Master frequency range for the device under test.
2. Press the Measurement main menu key and select Return Loss.
3. Connect the RF Out/Reflect In port to the InstaCal/Power Meter port
using a short phase-stable test port cable. Calibrate using
InstaCal and Standard. Refer to “Calibration Procedure”
on page 7-5 for details.
4. Remove the cable from the InstaCal/Power Meter port and connect
a precision load to the end of the cable.
5. Measure the return loss of the precision load. The level should be
better than 38 dB across the calibrated frequency range.
