3.5.2 SONAES 12/150 A
The SONEAS 12/150 Battery Charger is EN54-4 certified. The maximum charging current is 12 A.
The battery charger is two rack units high, and has to be installed in a 19" rack. Maximum battery
capacity 114 or 225 AH. The SONAES comes without batteries. To meet the secured power back-up
system need, determining the exact conditions and the amount of battery back-up for a system is
much complex than other applications. Public Address / Voice Alarm system does not draw a
constant current. The standard defines a standby time and an evacuation time. In this case, it is
crucial to pick a battery back-up that shall supply the minimum amount of power for a set amount of
time. With SONAES battery chargers, it provides you with a battery calculator program which
determines the exact capacity.
This product is a Power Supply Equipment (PSE) as defined in the EN 54-4 standard. It is designed
to be connected to the 230 V public distribution network. To avoid any risk of electric shock, all
interventions must be carried out with disconnected mains supply. A bipolar isolating switch must be
installed likewise in the batteries circuit. Interventions with the equipment switched on are authorized
only when it is impossible to switch the equipment off. The operation must only be performed by
qualified personnel.
3.5.2.1 Front Panel
When the 3 LEDs light up in green, it indicates that your apparatus is in correct operation. Here
are the possible circumstances of facing detected fault with corresponding LED.
Output voltage fault:
It is signalled by a yellow LED and it's available on dry contact (fail-safe) for remote monitoring.
If there's no voltage on one or more output, all the five outputs are checked. Each dry contact is
with a three pole SPDT switch (C-NC-NO), allowing 1A @ 24Vdc or 0,5A @ 120Vac.
Battery fault (back-up source):
It is signalled by a yellow LED and it's available on dry contact (fail-safe) for remote monitoring.
If the battery is not serve.
If the internal impedance is too high .
If the battery voltage < 23,5 V ±3 %. resp. 47,0 V ±3 % mains present.
Mains fault (normal source):
