3.3.5.8 Conversation Mode - Conversation mode allows the remote modem terminal to converse with either the
system console or the user terminal. Thus, there are two different types of conversation mode: terminal's
transmit line is connected to the system console's or local user terminal's receiver line, and vice versa.

Figure 3-13. DRP Configuration for User Mode, Block Diagram
3.3.5.9 System Console Conversation Mode - If system console conversation mode is entered, the PIO/DCH
controller's serial I/O line is held busy, until the system console is given back. This mode can only be entered
remotely if the access-level is set to full. Because there is one command to enter both system conversation mode
and user conversation mode, system conversation mode is entered when the BREAK C command sequence is
entered, if the last mode was not user mode. See Figure 3-13 for the DRP configuration for this mode.
3.3.5.10 User Conversation Mode - User conversation mode can only be entered if the access-level is set to full
or limited and the last mode running was user mode. User conversation mode is normally used while the operating
system is running, thus the PIO/DCH controller must be connected to the system console port. If the BREAK key
is hit at the system console while in this mode, the host interrupts the 8031 to enter the SCP and user conversation
mode is disconnected. See Figures 3-13 and 3-14 for the DRP configuration for this mode.
