C.O. MEASUREMENT PROCEDURES

To measure C.O. in manual mode
1. Press the C.O. Start fixed key on the hemodynamic pod or select C.O. Start on
the C.O. setup menu. The READY message appears for 30 seconds or until a
blood temperature drop is detected.
2. Immediately inject the saline solution and wait for the monitor to calculate a
C.O. value. The monitor begins to calculate a C.O. value as soon as it detects
a blood temperature drop.
If the monitor fails to detect the temperature drop caused by the injectate, the
waveform disappears after 30 seconds. An attention tone sounds, an error
message appears in the local message area, and three asterisks (
* * *) appear in
the Save AVG field. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for additional measurements.
NOTE: C.O. Start is only available as a menu item in manual mode. As soon as you
initiate a C.O. measurement, the
C.O. Start key is disabled and the C.O. Start menu item
is ghosted until a value is reported.
