Agent Monitoring
You can identify agent waveforms and parameters by color (Halothane = red;
Desflurane = light blue; Enflurane = orange; Sevoflurane = yellow;
Isoflurane = purple).
The agent parameter box shows the inspiratory and end-tidal values for the currently
monitored agent.
Scio Four Oxi plus & Scio Four plus only: if the module has not yet identified or
cannot identify the agent, the agent parameter box displays the message
Agent?.
Scio Four Oxi & Scio Four only: There is no automatic agent identification with this
module and you must set the desired agent manually (see page
23-21.)
Mixed agent (Scio Four Oxi plus & Scio Four plus only.)
When the Scio module detects a mix of two or more anesthetic agents, the displayed
agent waveform reflects the combined agent concentrations.
The color of the waveform represents the agent with the highest level of
concentration. If there is a change of the anesthetic agent during monitoring, the
parameter box displays the label MIXED and replaces the concentration values with
asterisks (***). The mixed label (for example HAL-HAL) indicates the agent that has
the highest level of concentration. This label will switch to that of the second
administered agent when its concentration exceeds that of the first agent.
NOTE: If the monitor displays a question mark next to an agent’s parameter label, the
displayed agent concentration values may not meet the specified accuracy.
CAUTION:
Use care when setting agent ID manually. Measurements will be inaccurate if
the wrong agent ID is selected.
Scio Four Oxi & Scio Four cannot recognize anesthetic gas mixtures.
Measurements will be inaccurate if anesthetic gases are mixed.
NOTE:
If the user has not selected an anesthetic agent yet, the message AA? is
displayed in the parameter box.
The agent ID resets to blank upon a power cycle or patient discharge.
NOTE: When the Scio module is connected via a Scio connecting cable in the X3 or
Scio/ISD connector, and
Dual Agent is selected, there will be no mixed agent displayed.
