To remedy this, make sure both the laser and sensor are mounted properly on the shaft of
each machine, check the coupling, and acquire new data. When the only place to mount
the laser fixtures is on a flexible type coupling, make sure the laser fixtures are mounted on
sections of the coupling that flex independently of each other. If the coupling is rigid,
whether you mount the laser fixtures on the shafts or the coupling, the coupling must be
removed or broken loose.
Do not mount the laser fixtures on the center section of the coupling if the machines are
connected by a jackshaft, spool, or spacer coupling. Mounting the laser fixtures on the
same section of a flexible coupling, on machines connected by a rigid coupling, or on the
center section of a jackshaft is like mounting them on a straight piece of rigid pipe. In this
case, the stair-step pattern is not a result of misalignment. A small amount of sag in the
pipe and a low variability level due to something other than misalignment may appear as
misalignment. This is why placing the laser fixtures on a straight piece of rigid pipe to
check them is not recommended.
If the laser fixtures are mounted correctly and the data still appears grouped in a stair-step
pattern, check the status of the laser or sensor for a possible hardware problem.
7.9 Transfer alignment jobs
7.9.1 Alignment summary reports
The analyzer lets you print summary reports of your alignment data. Connect to AMS
Machinery Manager to transfer and print the report.
A summary report includes job information, notes, soft foot data, and reading set data
(machine feet moves and Angle/Offset data). The report includes only the first and last
reading sets that were acquired.
