ALTERNATOR REMOVAL PROCEDURE
Removal
The following instructions cover the removal of the
main alternator from the engine after the power module
has been removed from the truck. (Refer to Figure
4-1.)
When lifting alternator, attach hoist to lift eyes
only. The alternator weighs approximately 7,990
lbs. (3624 kg). Use a lifting device that can handle
the load safely.
1. Attach hoist with two lifting chains to the two
alternator lifting eyes (8, Figure 4-1).
2. Block under rear of engine
a. Loosen cradle adjustments setscrews (3, Fig-
ure 4-2).
b. Loosen engine/cradle capscrews (5, Figure
4-1).
