3.4.7 Processing recursive samples
The processing of recursive samples does not differ in principle to the processing of first-pass
sample processing. The recursion varies, depending on the system configuration, the
installed camera, the barcodes being used, and the tube types (open or closed).
An explanation of the recursive process is found in chapter 2 'System description'
in section 2.5.5.
A typical situation for the recursion is taking samples which have just been analyzed and
putting them back into the input sorter. This is done in order to process pending test
requirements or to sort processed tubes in an archive.
WARNING
Risk of infection!
You must be very careful when handling open sample tubes. Wear protective
gloves and protective clothing!
You can also search specifically for samples with pending test in the database, and then carry
out recursive tests on those samples. The following chapter describes the database search for
samples with pending tests, and searches in the sorting area.
3.4.8 Sample tracking (position, processing status)
It is possible to search in the system software, while the system is operating, for the position
of processing status of a particular sample in the sorting area (for example, to analyze it
immediately, without waiting for the sorting rack to fill up).
NOTICE
The barcode must be known in order to find a sample.
1. Open the submenu 'Routine ▶ Information system' and click on the [Orders] button.
2. You can search through the saved data set for the desired patient or barcode by clicking
on [Next] or [Back].
Or:
2. You can click on the [Search] button and then click in the 'Barcode' entry field. The field
turns blue.
3. Enter the barcode of the desired sample and confirm with [Enter]. If the barcode exists in
the database, the corresponding patient information and the status of the existing test
requirements will be displayed in the 'Tests' area.
