2.5. Sample flow and sample processing
2.5.1 The route that the sample takes through the system
The cobas p 512 system provides an optimized and efficient flow of samples in the
laboratory. Unsorted samples are transported by the system, decapped or recapped if
necessary, and sorted into defined workplaces. These workplaces can be sample racks for
analysis devices or archive racks for storage.
The determination of the sorting positions is carried out by individually-determined rules
and priorities. These are already a part of the customer configuration. The tubes provided by
the system for the workplaces or the analyzers can be processed immediately.
The primary samples can be fed into the system again in order to carry out repetitions or
further jobs. In addition, processed samples can be transported to the sample archive.
