2.5.2 Processing profiles and priorities
To process the samples, the system checks all pending tests for a patient sample. The
selection is made based on certain rules and priorities.
2.5.2.1 Rules for sample processing
The individual sorting targets (rack trays and racks for the analyzers or manual work places)
are specified in profiles. Tests are assigned to the individual profiles.
And thus every profile is assigned a priority during the specification of the profiles.
A priority is defined by an integer value; the higher the number, the lower the priority.
The primary goal is to minimize the time spent during the processing of the samples. If all of
a sample's tests can be assigned to one profile, this will be done automatically. In such a case,
profile priority and test priority will not make any difference whatsoever.
If the sample cannot be assigned to one single profile, one of the following priorities will be
applied.
2.5.2.2 Profile priority
The order for sorting all tubes is based on the priorities of the profiles.
The profile with the highest priority in the current work cycle is searched for first. As many
tests of the sample as possible are then assigned to this profile.
Only then will the profile with the next lower priority be used, until all possible tests are
assigned.
2.5.2.3 Concurrent tests
If several workplaces are created with a similar test range, the sample is sorted to a workplace
which contains the most tests. The profile containing the most requested tests will be
processed first. Work proceeds via profile/workplace priority again if that is not possible.
Example:
The following tests are sent from the host: TEST1, TEST2, TEST3, TEST4, TEST5
Workplace 1: Profile 1 with priority 100: TEST1, TEST2, TEST3
Workplace 2: Profile 2 with priority 200: TEST1, TEST2, TEST3, TEST4, TEST5, TEST6,
TEST7
The sample tube will be sorted to workplace 2 since the greatest correspondence exists
between the test range and the workplace here. The higher priority of Workplace 1 remains
unconsidered.
