2.2.7 Tube transport (RT-Transport)
The RT-Transport is a conveyor belt for the primary tubes. It extends across all system
modules (input sorter and output sorter) and transports the sample tubes from the input
sorter to the tube recognition unit, past the barcode scanner to the decapper module,
through an optional recapper module, and finally into the output sorter.

2.2.8 Tube recognition
The cobas p 512 is equipped with a camera system for tube recognition. The tube recognition
module processes sample tube information. The camera system for tube recognition is
available in two different versions:
• Camera system with BlueLYNX-220CX camera for tube recognition via cap recognition.
The system in located in the camera enclosure in the input sorter.
• QS I/ QS I-LLD camera system for cap recognition and serum analysis. Camera system
with Hitachi HV-D30 camera in camera enclosure and additional PC located in the lower
part of the output sorter enclosure. Image processing is conducted in the PC with
Windows® operating system and then transferred to the system.
NOTICE
The camera enclosure must always be closed. The camera background and the lens must always be
clean so that the tubes can be recognized without errors.
CAUTION
Only Roche PVT original replacement bulbs may be used for camera lighting.
Bulbs which have not been tested and approved by Roche PVT can lead to false
color values and system errors.
