1.6.2 Specifications for the barcode labels
The barcodes and labels should comply with the following specifications.
Barcode type supported:
• Codabar
• 2 of 5 interleaved (ITF)
• Code 39
• Code 128 according to the ANSI/AIM standard.
The individual barcode types can be selected using the
following check digits:
The use of check digits can reduce the frequency of errors
when reading barcodes.
Roche PVT claims no responsibility for read errors resulting
from missing check digits, poor quality labels or insufficient
Definition of barcode to
be read
The barcodes (type, length, check character, human-readable
form) are configured using the system software. With this
configuration, up to six different barcodes can be defined and
read. The must all be defined with or all without a check-digit
Maximum number of
characters
24 characters allow for a barcode length of up to 24 places.
However, the maximum barcode length depends on the size
of the label which the customer is using.
Bar (column) size at least 0.2 mm
Ratio of wide/thin
sections
In general, this should be between 2.25 and 3 (not for code
128). This is dependent on the barcode, however.
Ink for the barcode and
Black ink on a white label Grey ink may not be used.
PCS (Print Contrast
PCS value of the barcode must be at least 80%.
