Maximum and minimum
gaps on the label
a: min. 3 mm (quiet zone)
b: max. 50 mm
c: min. 3 mm (quiet zone)
d: min. 8 mm
e: min. 3 mm
Calculating the quiet zone The dimensions must be at least fifteen times larger than the
module width b. The module width b is the thinnest element
in the barcode (a line or gap).
Quiet zone
a = 15 x b
Example:
Smallest gap b = 0.3 mm
Calculated quiet zone:
15 x 0.3 mm = 4.5 mm
Image clarity on the
barcode edges
The distorted (unclear) area at the edge of the barcode must
not be larger than 25% of the area of circle with a 0.15 mm
diameter.
Empty spaces and
extraneous ink dots
Extraneous ink spots in the rest zone should be less than or
equal to 0.075 mm in diameter. The area of the empty gaps
should be less than or equal to 25% of the area of a circle with
a 0.15 mm diameter.
