QS I-LLD (Liquid level detection)
The quality system QS I is only used to detect the tube fill level and to calculate the serum
volume. The serum will not be classified.
QS I-LLD + Sample Image
Sample Image is part of the QS I full version and optionally available with QS I-LLD. Sample
Image is a process to provide images from the QS I serum analysis in a separate access area
for further processing.
2.2.9 Infrared liquid level detection (IR-LLD)
General
The IR-LLD module (Infrared Liquid Level Detection) is a computer-controlled system to
detect the liquid level and quantity of:
• centrifuged serum samples
• centrifuged plasma samples
• urine samples
It is available as an optional accessory.
Advantages of the IR-LLD
By means of the IR-LLD module, the system obtains the following results:
• Location of the sample material within the tube (lower and upper liquid level)
• Volume of the sample material
• Tubes covered with up to 3 layers of non-reflecting foil or paper labels can be processed.
• Separate processing of measuring data on control unit IR-LLD
The sensor technology of the IR-LLD collects data while the tube is inserted into the tube
transport. Once the insertion process is finished, the location of the liquid inside the tube is
reported to the system's control computer.
Functional characteristics
The liquid level measuring unit IR-LLD is integrated into the Input Sorter of the sorting
system.

While the gripper arm inserts the tube into the RT-transport the IR-LLD module determines
the location of centrifuged serum, plasma or urine samples via an optical measurement by
