3.5.1 Perform data backups
Execute a data backup procedure in the submenu 'Maintenance â–¶ Daily Backup'.
For a description of the data backup procedure, please refer to chapter 2
'System description' section 2.7.13.
NOTICE
If you make a backup each day, then this should be done prior to clearing the data.
3.5.2 Logout/System, shutdown and switching off
1. Press the [Logout] button located in the upper right-hand corner of the monitor. Then
confirm your intention to log out in the next window displayed.
2. To shut the system down, press the [Shutdown] button in the Login screen.
3. Switch the system off at the main switch.
For a description of the logout and shutdown procedures, please refer to chapter 2
'System description' section 2.7.3.
3.5.3 Checking the sorting area and the work area
Check the sorting area and rack conveyor for objects such as sample tubes, caps, spilt fluids
or samples that may have accumulated during operations. Remove any such objects, residue
or contaminants.
WARNING
Risk of infection!
Sample material and all unit parts that may come into contact with the
sample material are to be regarded as potentially infectious and harmful to
health. Due to the risk of infection, always wear gloves when working on the
system!
3.5.4 Emptying the waste container
Empty the cobas p 512 waste container daily, either before or after the daily routine. For
hygienic reasons, you should use plastic bags within the waste container.

Risk of infection!
Wear protective gloves!
The waste container for caps is located on the rear of the system.
