cobas p 512 Part B - 0BSystem description
Operator's Manual - Version 1.6 - 10/2015 2-5
2.1. Introduction
2.1.1 Operator training
A service technician is present when the cobas p 512 is being installed to provide operator
training. This training is designed to prepare the future user to perform daily routine
operations without close supervision and work safely with the system by observing safety
instructions.
2.1.2 Customer configuration
Before being installed at the customer's location, the system software is configured with all
processing parameters required to perform daily routine operations. The software
configuration takes into consideration all information about the sample tubes to be used, the
associated sample types (for example, serum, coagulation), and the relevant positions in the
sorting area.
All processing movements made by the sorter unit and other moving components are pre-
programmed and optimized to perform the work flow required by the customer.
Extensive tests are carried out on this software configuration by the manufacturer to ensure
that the system can be immediately deployed at the customer's location.
2.1.3 Specifications
The system is operated using a graphical user interface with a touch screen monitor and a
keyboard with integrated stick.
You can use racks and rack trays from various manufacturers.
An integrated barcode scanner reads the sample barcodes.
The BlueLYNX-220CX camera recognizes the samples by identifying the color and shape
of the tube caps.
Closed samples can be opened automatically. The primary tubes can be sealed with
optional Recapping modules and then used for dispatch or archiving.
The sorting unit transfers the sample tubes to their fully-configurable sorting targets
(workplaces). The tube sorting can then occur in rack trays, racks or various sample
stands.
The tube transport is carried out by electrical and pneumatic drives. All movements are
position-controlled.
All important device functions and conditions are monitored by sensors.
A signal lamp indicates the operating status of the system.
Different tube types can be used during one work cycle.
The compressed-air is supplied via an external compressed air connection, for example
via an external compressor. The system is also available with an optional external
compressor.
Remote servicing via modem is possible
The user does not come into contact with potentially infectious samples.
The system is pre-configured to suit the customer's requirements.
