6.11. Sample tubes
In the manufacturer brochures, the length and diameter of tubes are round off to the nearest
millimeter. The majority of standard tubes of various manufacturers comply with the
requirements for use in the cobas p 512 system.
All of the standard tubes for hematology, coagulation, serum, plasma and urine, from BD,
Sarstedt, Kabe, Greiner and Terumo, may be used.
The use of plastic tubes is mandatory. Tubes with a cap diameter less than or equal to the
tube diameter may not be used. The difference between the cap width and the tube width
must be at least two millimeters.
Tubes with dark, transparent, grey or white caps may not be used. Also, certain color
combination may not be used for caps.
The tubes must have a standard round bottom. Tubes with conical bottoms may not be used.
Tubes with flat bottoms may only be used after specific approval by Roche PVT.
Glass tubes may not be used.
Different tube types can be used during one work cycle.
NOTICE
Your distributor has a current list with the information on all allowable tube types for the
cobas p 512 system. He can answer all additional questions you may have concerning the use of
other tube types.
