Multiplate system control
Multiplate system control
To ensure the validity of the measurement system, quality control measurements
must be performed regularly.
You must always follow the applicable government regulations and local guidelines
for quality control.
Control material used for the quality control measurement should be as similar as
possible according to the state of science and technology. For platelet function testing
no adequate control material exists. Therefore, two alternatives for the analyzer are
available:
Electro nic control o Recommended to run daily on measurement days (or at the beginning of every
shift).
o Part of preventive maintenance, after repair, or software update.
o Duration: 4 minutes (25 minutes inclusive pre-warming phase of device).
o Costs: no costs.
o Detection of hardware problems (sensor cables, mini boards, power supply unit),
calibration and problems with the environment (room temperature, location).
u For details, see Electronic control m easurements (p. 138)
Liquid control Always follow the instructions contained in the package inserts of the Liquid Control
Set.
o Recommended to run monthly or with a new lot of test cells.
o Part of preventive maintenance, after repair and after software update.
o Duration: 20 minutes (50 minutes including pre-warming of liquids).
o Costs: Liquid Control Set and 10 test cells.
o Determines quality of test cells (aged/oxidized sensor wires), problems of the
device, e.g. device calibration problems, communication problems between
device and electronic pipette.
o Whole blood impedance aggregometry is based on the measurement of a change
in electrical impedance caused by the aggregation of blood platelets on a pair of
electrodes. The specific evaluation and assessment of the pipette to detect a
change in the electrical current may be tested using artificial control material.
o The Liquid Control Set consists of two fluids, Solution 1 and Solution 2, with
different ionic strengths. The mixing of both fluids results in a change of electrical
conductivity, which is recorded as a change in impedance in the analyzer. The set
contains material for level 1 and level 2 controls for all five channels of the
analyzer.
