Communication services
Three communication services are defined in the PROFIdrive profile.
Cyclic data exchange via a cyclic data channel:
Motion control systems require cyclically updated data in operation for open-loop and
closed-loop control tasks. This data must be sent to the drive units in the form of
setpoints or transmitted from the drive units in the form of actual values, via the
communications system. This also applies to the SINAMICS DCP.
Transmission of this data is usually time-critical.
Acyclic data exchange via an acyclic data channel:
An acyclic parameter channel for exchanging parameters between the
controller/supervisor and drive units is additionally available. Access to this data is not
time-critical.
Message channel:
The messages are output on an event-driven basis, and indicate the incoming and
outgoing status of error states.
Interface IF1 and IF2
The Control Unit CUD can communicate via two separate interfaces (IF1 and IF2).
You can assign both interfaces to the following physical interfaces (p8839):
PROFIBUS (onboard X126)
PROFINET (X1400 on Communication Board CBE20)

Note
SINAMICS DCP does not support isochronous operation. The closed
-loop control is
independent of the bus clock cycle.
For additional information on the
IF1 and IF2 interfaces, see Chapter "Parallel operation of
communication interfaces
(Page 193)".
